My latest large project was redesigning E-MU Systems' website. Within the parent company's restrictive coding guidelines, I updated the look and feel of E-MU's site. I worked with the marketing team to brighten it up from its Darth Vader look to a more inviting shopping experience. The site organizes information in an inutitive way and presents it in an edgy but clean manner suitable for its audience of musicians. I also created an HTML newsletter with similar images and colors to complement the website. |

This is the website that started it all. A friend mentioned that he wanted to start selling products online in 1999. I wanted to learn HTML, so I agreed to build the site. I got my hands dirty in code and graphics optimization, got some skills under my belt, and left my accounting job to join a start-up during the dot.com boom. DeadDoctorsDontLie.com has gone through several revisions, but this incarnation enables customers to sign up for a monthly newsletter on the home page or get involved with our affiliate program in addition to finding information on products before using the secure shopping cart. |

Benjamin Ow is the third generation of real estate brokers in Santa Cruz County. After moving his business from Los Angeles, he needed a website that exuded a professional web presence to the potential clients of his new real estate firm. We worked together to develop a logo, business cards and a website that would instill confidence in his customers. The site is hip but not overly hip, and the content remains above the fold. I also worked on some SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for his site. |

I met Doug through a consultants' group when he gave a workshop on following our paths. His life coaching presentation was useful and interesting, and he realized that he was in need of my services to market his services. We built a brochure site with a relaxed and professional feel to make potential clients confident in wanting to work with him. The site has a slick pop-up that shows case studies, a quick-loading CSS drop-down menu and a contact form to reduce spam. |

After my sister got her Psy.D. (Doctorate of Psychology), she needed a website to help promote her private practice. Because I've known her all my life, I didn't have to ask what she wanted her site to look like. I gave her the design as a Christmas present, and it was exactly what she wanted. The colors and images reflect a tranquil, peaceful mood, while the clean, uncluttered look presents a professional appearance. Unfortunately, she had to put the private practice on hold while she pays off her student loans, but the site will be up again one day. |

HandMCommercialFramers.com is a small brochure site which informs the public about the company's extensive experience, showcases various projects the team completed and provides contact information. Because the web makes it easy for potential clients to research companies, H&M realized it was important to the future of their business to have a web presence. |

Duane Strong has extensive experience as a Software Engineer, but his website was in dire need of a facelift. The information given on his site was solid, but the presentation could use a change. Using Web 2.0 design elements, we laid out a site that shows projects he's worked on, like musical instruments and spy planes. As a contractor, hiring managers and headhunters will see that he's serious about all aspects of his business when they research his credentials. |

Heirloom-Portraits.com is an artist's portfolio site to show potential clients Anthony LoSchiavo's work and to allow those clients to contact him about future commissions. I wanted the color scheme of the site to reflect and complement the rich colors of Mr. LoSchiavo's paintings. This site features larger images displayed in pop-up windows which are reached by clicking on thumbnail images. |

DebeDene.com was created for a new cosmetics line. The site features Ms. Dene in the Flash splash page and allows customers to register for the membership club and newsletter. The client requested clean, modern lines while remaining feminine. |

DebeDene.com was redesigned to include shopping for cosmetics, accessories, shoes and future products. Ms. Dene had colors in mind to reflect her company's aesthetic. I supplemented her product images with stock photography to add visuals to future product pages. |

The Rosenthal Group, Inc. is a consulting firm which merged with another firm and needed their website to reflect the change. This redesign involved updating their look, rejuvenating their stock photography, and creating a sub-site with information on The Crockett Group. The sub-site complements The Rosenthal Group site with its similar design and distinctive color palette. Using clean lines gives this site a fresh, professional look. |

Jesse Campbell, an accomplished singer, needed a new website to be posted within a tight deadline to coincide with an upcoming television appearance. I was able to design and code a professional-looking site with the means to take orders for Mr. Campbell's CD, collect donations for his ministry, obtain booking requests and stream MP3s — all before the television program. I also updated his logo to give it a chromed-out look. |

Britex Fabrics has been in existence for over 50 years and is one of San Francisco's most famous stores. After the photographer planned out a design for the site, I did the web development and greatly improved the speed of the site's loading, fixed the broken code and made other changes here and there to better the working of the site. The client was impressed with my ability and speed and wants me to visit the store so that she can give me a big hug. :) |

Key Lime Design is owned by a San Francisco artist who dreams up whimsical images for her stationery line. She laid out an amazing site design, and I made it work for the web. We added enticing rollovers and an attractive "Page Not Found" page which appears for pages that aren't yet finished. |

This website for a non-profit organization allows users to contact the group about sponsorship opportunities, purchase T-shirts and posters online, view a scrolling news ticker with statistics on women, and watch a Flash presentation of the NFL Wives' Fashion Show from the 2002 Superbowl. The intricate logo presented a challenge to the design, but the client was thrilled with their new website. |

SFSampleSales.com is a brochure site designed by Erin Sledd from Key Lime Design. Again, with her fantastic design and artistic abilities, I did the geek work and put her ideas on the web. The biggest challenge was getting the mailing list form to work within her design constraints and the limitations of HTML. We ended up making a great team for this project! |

Working at E-MU Systems as the Webmistress was amazing because I was finally doing something where I could sometimes use my music degree. I worked with inspiring musicians who loved talking about and playing music, and I got to interview and meet people I respected. I redesigned the corporate website with creative input from the marketing department, created the monthly HTML newsletter, updated the site daily with new product information, downloads, and ads for the e-commerce area, and interviewed musicians and wrote articles for the Artist Lounge section of emu.com. Unfortunately for me, the economy got bad, and music is a luxury and not a necessity for many people. |

Being a freelance web designer means that I have time to design websites for people I love as a gift. Two of my oldest friends have blogs, or online journals. One design came to me in a dream, and I knew that I had to build the site for her (while learning quite a bit of CSS along the way). The other design was based on my friend's love of bullfighting. One blog is maintained on Blogger.com, and the other is powered by Movable Type's publishing software. Both blogs feature comments and a CSS-based template. |
