Happy Repeal Day!
I ate dinner at Chez Panisse the other night, and it was fantastic, completely supporting my view of the supremacy of the Northern Californian school...although I do see the next great culinary step (already happening) being a reaction to the increasing dogmatism (mostly having to do with Al Gore-inspired non-gastronomical concerns) of the school, and moving towards Molecular Gastronomy, while keeping a tap in the spring of the Northern Californian School.
However, I have too much to do around here to get into the details now.
Isn't that the all-too-often-heard song around here?
But I simply cannot let Repeal Day go by without celebrating it on the blog! Martinis will be poured at six around here. In anticipation of the next idiotic experiment in Prohibition, I recommend a good cigar, as well.
The Puritans, being the spawn of Satan, simply cannot learn from one failure after another, and tobacco is the one indulgence that completely drives them batty. Perhaps we should call the stuff Devilsbane. They are putting all of their effort into eradicating tobacco, and this, too, shall fail. James I tried it. Hitler tried it. People will be smoking long after Everett "Kooky" Koop has died, leaving behind, we can be sure, a perfectly healthy body to rot in the grave.
Cheers!
