Erik's Rant

Back home, and busy in the garden.

Well, this should end the longest blog gap in a couple of years. We actually returned home Saturday, but we were buried under laundry and so forth. Today I have to tackle the garden, as the tomatoes are threatening to engulf the neighborhood (and the fava beans look like they are ready to take passengers to castles in the sky). So today I attack with stakes and twine, bringing order to the productive chaos.

I also have to do the whole routine of taking the camping equipment outside and cleaning it thoroughly. You cannot expect to get your full value out of a tent if you don't do this after every trip (especially the last one of the season).

And, finally, I have some time on today's agenda for the studio. I don't know what I will be working on, as I am out of one of the chemicals I need for my experiments, so I might end up doing rather unexperimental painting with tried and true oil paints, instead of my idea for a more durable, more light-fast, etc. paint.

Unfortunately the formulations so far are so toxic that they really shouldn't be used indoors for more than a few minutes. But I am working on that. I refuse to paint in a gas mask, so if I can't get something that is only moderately lethal, I am going to have to keep at it.

So, that is what is ahead of me today, not that you, dear reader, care, but you might notice that I don't have on this list "write a lengthy blog post involving some weighty matter". And you would be correct in noticing that. I would like to post something bigger, and might tonight, but it is not so high on the agenda.

Recipes. Photos. Thoughts about Diebenkorn. Musings on Hitler. Gripes about kids these days. We'll see.
