Oh Good Lord!
Who would have thought that Don Jim would also have a Melancholia playlist on his iPod?
Of his random 10, only one artist is on mine (Cowboy Junkies make several appearances in my library), and I will not comment on the fact that George Michael is on his (egads, padre).
Anyway, Here is my melancholia randomly shuffled 10 tracks:
1. "Besame Mucho" sung by Dea Garbacci
2. "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye" sung by Ray Charles and Betty Carter
3. "Ombra sacra" by Banda Ionica
4. "Ancor che col partire (violin version)" composed by Cipriano da Rore, performed by John Potter, Stephen Stubbs, John Surman, Maya Homburger, and Barry Guy (The Dowland Project, ECM)
5. "In the Sweet By and By" sung by Dolly Parton
6. "Amsterdam" sung by Jacques Brel
7. "Lush Life" performed by John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman
8. "Disiu di tia" sung by the Fratelli Mancuso
9. "I Can't Get Started" sung by Ella Fitzgerald
10. "Some Guys" by Tuxedomoon
Dear Erik,
Wow. I thought I was the only living Tuxedomoon fan. And I didn't even know the oeuvre was available on CD. I've been looking into some rather arcane vinyl transfer methods. (Tuxedomoon, Snakefinger, and much of the Residents seems to be absent from the catalog. Not to mention Aphrodite's Child, Gong, and a few other absurdities from that in-between time. Tristan Vander's Magma, for example.
Neat.
shalom,
Steven
