I get mine at the Berkeley Bowl. They always have it (imported from Belgium, but it is the only regular option) on the long wall of the produce section, near the other root veggies, to the left of the mushrooms.
There is a farmer at the Oakland Grand Lake farmers' market who sells it too, sometimes. I may have seen it at the Monterey Market, too, but I cannot remember.
Berkeley Bowl is the most reliable source for it, though.
I am curious as to what your plans are for it. I love salsify, and am always looking for new ways to use it.
